Theory & Pedagogy can be Practical!

Greetings from the BuildaBridge Institute for Restorative Arts!

BuildaBridge has a 20 year history of providing onground and online training for practitioners (creative arts therapists, community artists, social workers, teachers, community leaders, etc.) that is trauma-informed, arts-based and provides theory and pedagogy in practical application. It is with profound gratitude to Dr. Nathan Corbitt and Dr. Vivian Nix-Early for their leadership in education, the arts, and implementation of programming locally and globally for their efforts in building the foundations of the institute. And it was with humility and excitement that I, along with my colleagues, relaunch the Restorative Arts Institute.

Institute Mission

The BuildaBridge Institute is a training and applied research academy designed to prepare artists, youth workers, community and congregational leaders, teachers, social service professionals, and nonprofit organization personnel to integrate the arts effectively in education, social services and community development.

As we reimagine and re-envision our work with Institute, we are pleased to announce opportunities for both inperson and online training. All of our onground training will now include evening arts skills workshops such as conscious drumming, creative journaling, song writing as well as other mediums of arts-based expression. Our online courses are available as learning cohorts are filled. raining is always interactive and dialogic in nature as well as inclusive of final learning projects submitted by the course-taker. Skills, knowledge, and the creation of a shared learning community recognizes that all learners, including instructors, brings areas of expertise. It is only through our collaboration and sharing of knowledge that true transformation of lives and communities are possible. Wishing to be a dynamic organization, we will offer trainings that have been refined over the last 20 years, and will incorporate new trainings as indicated by the needs of the learning community.
