BuildaBridge Volunteer Training

Published in Untagged  by J. Nathan Corbitt

Training BuildaBridge reguires all volunteers and potential staff to undergo training for working with kids and integrating the arts. Highly interactive, our April training reached a record 29 people from across Phialdelphia responding to the needs for consistent artistic workers in transitional homes and our after-school program. See the

The training follows a format we call the BuildaBridge Classroom that models how we work with kids by instilling creativity, developing ritual, and teaching concrete art skills. Our goals are to create a safe environment for fostering hope and healing.

Before placement, all volunteers and staff complete an application, submit experience and references, undergo training, complete legal clearances, and commit to consistent and regular work with kids. We believe that consistency in relationships is critical to a child's future success, particularly for those children who have suffered from both physical and emotional trauma.
