Guatemala Update: Rosa Arrives
Published in Guatemala by J. Nathan CorbittRosa Lennix arrives in Guatemala. She writes:
I´ve finally arrived in Guatemala! I´m excited and ready to work! The past few days has been getting used to the surroundings
The family I am living with are great—Tita, my house mother, her two sons—Daniel and Moises (¨Moishe¨ for short), and a teacher from the school in La Limonada, Monika. Moishe´s (who is 7) is so sweet. When he knew I was coming, he actually made me a welcome letter! It read: ¨welcome to Guatemala , your home in God¨ in Spanish.
My first full day here was Tita and Monika´s day off—so we pretty much just did some things around the house and looked at pictures of the school. On my second day, I actually got to see the school and the community in La Limonada. La Limonada is apparently one of the worst parts of Guatemala City. I really enjoyed going with Tita to visit some of the members of the community and learn more about them. I also liked meeting the children. They are so friendly and have been trying to help me improve my Spanish=) I´m excited to begin teaching them Art and English next week!
