Kid's I know

Published in Guatemala by J. Nathan Corbitt
Kid's I KnowRosa Lennix. This week I wanted to share with you a bit about some children I know in the community I am working in. This is Samuel and one of his little brothers. You probably recognize them from the picture you saw from my first week here. Samuel is in one of my classes. He´s a very bright and excitable student! It always puts a smile on my face to run into Samuel because he is always o well-behaved, polite, and full of joy. Samuel and his brothers come from a difficult family background. Their mother lived with their father as his common law wife for years, but recently he died, leaving his mom widowed and with the 3 children. She is carrying another child. Samuel´s mother is worried about how she will feed another mouth and handle the other three children all at once. She often looks worried when I see her, but she is getting by. Every day after lunch, Samuel´s mom walks the boys to class and we get the chance to chat a little before I teach. Neither of us is fluent in one another´s language, but we both really enjoy or time together and she always greets me with a smile, a kiss on the cheek, and a big hug. I also enjoy getting to spend a little time with her other two sons. They are so joyful and I have enjoyed the time I´ve spent with them.  DonateNow
