International Arts for Hope Camps
Diaspora of Hope Arts camps are what we call catalytic events. BuildaBridge enters into long-term collaborations with local organizations to develop local artists and organizations who serve the needs of children--to catalyze the engagement of arts intervention and education as powerful tools for hope and healing. By building the capacity of the organization to integrate the arts, local arts programming is sustainable. In the past several years we have seen an increase in the number of local artists involved and stronger local organizations in their capacity to work effectively with children. Training of teachers is always a part of the experience. By participating in Diaspora of Hope artist teachers become a part of BuildaBridge's goal for sustainable arts development and the hope and healing children living in poverty deserve.
Haiti: November

BuildaBridge will return to Haiti in November, 2010 as part of Diaspora of Hope. At Madame Luc's Orphanage artists will continue the development of the child sacred space with scultping, painting, drama and music classes, and introducing sack gardening. Living conditions are very basic. At the Luois Pierrot School we will again provide an arts camp and are looking to engage more local artists as teachers. Training is required and also provided at local sites.
The dates this year are: November 19-27. The cost is $1800 plus airfare. You may want to read our financial policy and information about fundraising policy. A $350 non-refundable deposit is required. Full commitment is due November 1, 2010.
Guatemala: November

For the past six years BuildaBridge has assisted Strategies for Transformation and La Limonada School in developing an arts camp and programming for children living in an urban barrio. Over 100 Children are bused outside the barrio for a week-long camp of arts, sports and activities that focus on hope and peace-making. Local artists are engaged with the goal of serving as primary teachers, with international teachers assisting and transferring skills. Training is required.
