Hope and Healing: Arts for Transformation

This presentation outlines the work and philosophy of BuildaBridge International.  The mission of BuildaBridge is to bring hope and healing to vulnerable populations in places of poverty and crisis through creative arts experiences.  Core models of hope, classroom management, creative arts as metaphor, and the artist as mentor form the basis for BuildaBridge work with homeless children in Philadelphia and Internationally.  Projects highlighted are the Discovery Program in Philadelphia, Diaspora of Hope in Kenya and Guatemala, and the Haiti Arts Relief Project.  Discussion will also include the BuildaBridge Institute training program for local creative artists, educators, social workers, and community and congregational service workers.
