BuildaBridge forms alliances with organizations around the world. Our goal is to build the capacity of the local organization through sustainable projects, including direct service and training. We invite people with creative gifts to participate in our mission to bring hope and healing to the most vulnerable in the toughest places of the world. Our trips are part of our overall arts relief and development goals. BuildaBridge engages artists who have the desire to serve vulnerable populations by using their gifts as tools for education, empowerment, hope and healing. BuildaBridge connects artists with organizations that wish to integrate arts in their already existing programs. Artists are trained with the basic skills to work with vulnerable populations. This includes working with at-risk children and families, curriculum writing, cross-cultural skills, and more. Our foundation is the BuildaBridge Classroom Model that is child-centered, hope-infused, and trauma informed.

Diaspora of Hope Haiti
Diaspora of Hope Haiti November 19-26.
After over a year we plan to return to the Louis Pierrot School in Ponte Sonde, Haiti. This project is in partnership with Practical Compassion. We were encouraged at the sign of sustainability and capacity building when the school planned a single day arts camp this past summer. This trip will involve both training of local staff and artists and working directly with children.

Diaspora of Hope Kenya
Diaspora of Hope Kenya November Nov 25th to December 4.
Since 2008, BuildaBridge has assisted The Inspiration Center in conducting an Arts for Hope camp with kids from Mathare Valley.
Description from the Inspiration Centre blog: The Diaspora of Hope Art Camp began through the initiative of BuildaBridge International. This camp model can be easily contextualized to a specific culture and community. Artists from the community unite and collaborate regarding their own unique artistic skills. Classes are formed based on those artists willing to teach and those artists go through a day training prior to camp so that they write lesson plans and decide how to incorporate the camp theme into their teaching. Children coming for camp will choose one art-from the concentrate on for the entire camp. At the beginning and end of each camp we have assembly where we will cover the motto and rules for camp as well as discuss the theme (such as peace, hope, or unity). The last day of camp children gather together to include family, friends, and community members in a celebration, which allows each arts group to give a presentation of what they have learned. Inspiration Centre has been using this camp model for 3 years now. Each year, it continues to get bigger and better!
This year the camp will return to Mombasa and be held at a beach camp.
