FRONTPAGE_NO_TRANSLATION_AVAILABLE  We are excited to announce that BuildaBridge International's traveling art exhibit, iDignity will be coming to Wayne Presbyterian Church from September 20th-October 18th. The show opens to the public on September 25th from 6-8pm during a community reception. Wayne Presbyterian Church is located at 125 East Lancaster Avenue in Wayne, PA. The iDignity project of BuildaBridge builds on the work begun by artists of the Mennonite Central Committee in Canada. It seeks to show the dignity of those living in poverty through images that reflect hope, resilience, humor, self-respect, joy, uprightness, pride, love and never giving up--an inherent persistence to live life with self-respect knowing one has worth to those around them. While many of us seldom see this dignity because we lack the personal relationships with those in poverty, BuildaBridge seeks to artistically celebrate the dignity of the invisible people in the US and abroad. Artists and photographers from around the world are featured in the exhibit which was previously featured in Philadelphia and Harrisburg. What does iDignity mean? The "i" stands for invisible in that there are many people in the world who remain invisible to those of us who live in relative wealth. We may not have the opportunity, inclination, or desire to relate to this invisible population as fellow residents of the earth, though interconnected in our global society. At a basic level, what happens to one of us happens to all of us. Yet, many invisible people live with dignity in their lives through poverty.  What does dignity mean? Dignity is the "quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect." It is an "inherent nobility and worth as in the dignity of honest labor". It is "the quality of poise and self-respect--a stateliness and formality in manner and appearance."This is Wayne Presbyterian’s first show featuring art from a working relationship with BuildaBridge International. The exhibition will continue until October 18th with open hours after the 8:30am, 9:30am, and 11am Sunday services and additional hours by appointment. Proceeds will benefit the artists, and BuildaBridge International.
