Lynne
Farrow,
MFT, is an artist, spiritual director and marriage and family therapist.
Following God's call on her life, Lynne retired as a therapist eight years ago
to work as an artist helping others express their faith journey through the
arts. She currently leads art and writing workshops and retreats around
the country, and teaches workshops on a photo-computer-art process she
developed entitled PhotoWash©. Periodically blessed with too much time on
her hands, Lynne delights in discovering new ways to creatively explore and
express the identity, developmental, relational, cultural and spiritual issues
of teens and adults. She also designs and creates banners and art quilts for
churches and private collections through her business Pavilion Banners located
in Ventura, CA.
- " I like working with BI because it is such a fertile ground for creativity, growth and empowerment. There
are so many gifted people to work with and learn from in so many
different areas of art that I always come home the BuildaBridge
Institute feeling like I've received more than I've given as a master
teacher in the visual arts.
- I really enjoy working in a variety of settings, with a wide variety of age groups, creating variations on an art activity to adapt to the needs of the population I'm working with. I've learned to make art "on the fly" with what ever is at hand. I like the challenge and I love seeing the "aha" response of people have as they participate in art making."
The photos are examples of a fiber art activity called tree weaving recently completed over two weekends at an adventure camp for teens in the California foster care system. The inspiration for this project came from watching Kathryn Pannepacker, artist-in-residence for the 2007 Institute, spontaneously loom chair legs when regular looms weren't available.
