Dr. J Nathan Corbitt is the Co-founder
and President of BuildaBridge and a Professor of
Cross-Cultural Studies at Eastern
University. Dr.
Corbitt is also the Coordinator of the Arts in Transformation Concentration of
the new MA in Urban Studies at The Campolo College School for Social Change in Philadelphia. In 1999 he
co-founded BuildaBridge, an arts education and social service organization
committed to empowering artists, congregational leaders, and community workers
to engage the arts in service to others. He is author of The Global
Awareness Profile (2006); The Sound of the Harvest (Baker 1998) and
co-author of Taking it to the Streets: How the Arts Are Transforming
Communities (Baker Books 2003). Dr. Corbitt regularly consults and trains
on cross-cultural issues in education, urban studies, non-profit management and
evaluation, and overseas living and travel. He has lectured or researched in
over 35 countries. An interdisciplinary teacher and social entrepreneur,
Dr. Corbitt has held positions as a public school music teacher, youth worker,
minister, missionary, university professor, higher education administrator,
non-profit leader, and cross-cultural trainer and consultant. Most recently Dr.
Corbitt and his son Zach are developing online testing and resources for global
awareness and competence. Dr. Corbitt teaches the foundational course for the
Institute.
Dr. Vivian Nix-Early is the Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of BuildaBridge and is currently Dean of the Campolo College
School for Social Change at Eastern
University. Dr. Nix-Early has over 30 years of work with youth in Philadelphia through her local church, and is currently completing a Certificate in Creative
Arts Therapy at Drexel University.
She is co-author of Taking it to the Streets: How the Arts Are
Transforming
Communities (Baker Books 2003). In
addition to her volunteer leadership at
BuildaBridge she is a primary faculty member of the BuildaBridge Institute, teaching in the areas of
curriculum writing and development, and arts,
creativity and human development. Dr. Nix-Early received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University
of Pennsylvania in 1970 and a Ph.D. in
Clinical Psychology from New York University
in 1979. She is a licensed psychologist in the states of Pennsylvania
and New York.
Before coming to Eastern University, Dr. Nix-Early served as the Interim Associate Provost at West
Chester University,
in West Chester, Pennsylvania. From 1991-1995, she served as the Assistant Vice
President for Academic Affairs. In her role at Eastern University,
Dr. Nix-Early has been responsible for the development of the Philadelphia campus of
Eastern University and its viable educational
systems including a charter school, a dual enrollment college program for high school students, and several
urban-based graduate and certificate
programs.

Randolph Walters, Psy.D., LPC |
Dr. Walters has worked as a family therapist, educator, pastor,
administrator, and consultant. His research interests include attachment theory,
the father/daughter relationship, trauma, multicultural counseling,
men's issues, personality development, and the psychotherapy process. Dr. Walters will be providing a framework for spirituality and maturity based on the concept of internal locus of control.

Jim Borling
(M M, MT-BC, FAMI), Professor of Music, Director of Music Therapy at Radford University, Board Certified Music
Therapist and a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery. He received
his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from DePauw
University in Greencastle,
Indiana and his Master of Music degree in
Music Therapy from the University of Miami in Coral
Gables, Florida. Currently, Jim provides
music therapy services for 'Avenues to Recovery', an Intensive Outpatient
Program (IOP) for both adults and adolescents recovering from addictions. His
professional involvement with the field of music therapy includes positions
within the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
as well as extensive work with the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). Along with his wife Nannette, Jim is
co-founder of MusicVisions, LLC, where he maintains a clinical private practice
in his hometown of Roanoke,
Virginia. Through MusicVisions,
Jim specializes in the use of Music Evoked Imagery (MEl) as an approach to
depth work in the field of Music Therapy. Jim's
work with Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) has taken him to Germany,
Mexico, and Korea as a
visiting professor and trainer in the method.

Barbara
Price Davis, MA, is the Executive
Director of YouthCAN!, a non-profit substance abuse and delinquency prevention
and intervention agency that believes is the transformational power of
art. Hired in 2000 to manage one small art program in the alternative
high schools in Northwest Arkansas, Barbara has since grown the organization
into a self-sufficient, stand alone agency, managing the Art Explosions
Community Imagination Studio, a 6,000 square foot multidisciplinary art studio
and its seven programs, now serving over 1,000 people each month, with clients
coming from all sectors of the community—youth, adults, people in treatment
facilities, mentoring organizations, cancer patients, etc. Barbara’s
background as a social psychologist and artist, along with her expertise in
evaluation, fundraising, grant writing, and community relations has allowed
this organization to become a recognized advocate for prevention in Arkansas

Dr. Joseph B. Modica is the University Chaplain and Associate Professor of
Biblical Studies at Eastern University in St.
Davids, PA (www.eastern.edu), where he has served since
1993. Dr. Modica earned the B.A., Queens College,
City University of New York (Psychology);
M.Div., Alliance Theological Seminary, Nyack, NY; M.Phil., and Ph.D., Drew
University, Madison, New Jersey
(New Testament and Early Christianity).
He is ordained with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and pastored the Queens Center
Alliance Church
(Queens, NY)
from 1986-1988. Joseph and his wife Marianne have four children: Benjamin (22),
Meredith (20), Matthew (15) and Christopher (12). Marianne is an Assistant
Professor of Early Childhood Education at Valley ForgeChristian College
in Phoenixville, PA, where the family resides. Dr. Modica
edited a volume of essays honoring Dr. Tony Campolo’s 65th birthday
entitled: The Gospel With Extra Salt:
Friends of Tony Campolo Celebrate His Passions for Ministry (Judson Press,
2000). He has also recently co-edited a book of essays with Dr. Scot McKnight
from North Park University, entitled Who Do My
Opponents Say That I Am? Accusations Against the Historical Jesus, which
is to be published by T
& T Clark/Continuum in March 2008.

Leah Samuelson is
a decorative mural and faux-finish painter by trade. Over the last five years
her painting has shifted to community mural projects- inspired by getting to
know world neighbors and their struggles and strengths. She believes in the
unique power of the arts to capture the attention of a distracted world and
allow us to grow together. Leah currently lives in Columbus,
Ohio and is working on completing Eastern University's Urban Studies: Arts in
Transformation degree program. Please feel free to contact her if you would
