Artists On Call

Artists on Call is the name of our global volunteer program. BuildaBridge is proactively working towards a worldwide network collaboration of artists virtually connected in every country where BuildaBridge works. Artists (even educators, therapists, social workers, medical personnel) from all over the world will be notified of available needs in both Philadelphia and around the world with BuildaBridge network partners. This is implemented through information sharing. For example, if an artist attends BuildaBridge’s Institute in Guatemala s/he is now part of the BuildaBridge network, s/he can be placed in programs in Kenya or Malaysia if there is a current need for artists in these countries. Or, our partner in Tbilisi, Georgia needs arts therapy training for nurses working with homebound elderly--an arts therapist in Brataslava, Slovakia responds to travel to Tbilisi and provide the training. A homeless Shelter in Philadelphia needs and art therapist, registered creative art therapists can respond.

Artists, and those interested in working with an arts team, can voluntarily register as a professional or volunteer artist and through on-ground or on-line training to receive certification for service. Organization Newtork Partners may also register and request assistance. This virtual cadre of artists can then be notified of global “hotspots” where there is a need for art relief services.

Here is how to begin. Register with Artists on Call . You will need to create an account and then complete a fairly extensive profile. Instructions are on the home page.
